Students will write a paper summarizing their professional development acquired during the Treatment Internship within three (3) Practice Dimensions of substance use counseling. I am currently interning at the Probation and parole office so the paper needs to be geared around that environment.
The student will select the Practice Dimensions. Students will identify and describe in each of their KSA(Knowledge Skills and Attitudes) papers, the competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities they developed during their Treatment Internship related to the assigned Practice Dimension.
Students will also identify and describe in each of their KSA papers the activities they engaged in during the Treatment Internship that assisted with their competencies, knowledge, skills, and attitudes development. Students will use the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Technical Assistance Publication Series #21 (TAP 21) to structure their KSA papers.
Each KSA Paper is worth 50 points for a total of 150 points.
Each KSA Paper is required to contain the following points:
- Identification and description of two (2) Competencies the student developed related to the assigned Practice Dimension during the Treatment Internship=10 points.
- Identification and description of two (2) areas of Knowledge the student developed related to the selected competency=10 points
- Identification and description of two (2) Skills the student developed related to the selected Competency=10 points.
- Identification and description of two (2) Attitudes the student developed related to the selected Competency=10 points.
- Identification and description of two (2) activities the student engaged in during the Treatment Internship that assisted with their competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities development=10 points.
